Doing Everything for Jesus: A Simple Daily Practice

One of the greatest secrets of the saints was that they did not separate their daily lives from their spiritual lives.

They didn't only pray during Mass or while kneeling in church.

They transformed everything into an offering to God.

St. Paul reminds us:

"Whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God." (1 Corinthians 10:31)

Whether they were working, cooking, cleaning, caring for children, studying, or suffering, they did it all out of love for Jesus.

So how can we do the same?

Begin Your Day with an Offering

Before your feet touch the floor each morning, give your entire day to Jesus.

Pray:

"Jesus, I offer You this day. Every thought, every word, every joy, every suffering, every success, and every difficulty—I offer it all for Your glory. Help me to love You in everything I do."

That simple prayer changes the purpose of your entire day.

Invite Jesus Into Every Task

Even the smallest duties can become acts of love.

As you begin a task, simply say:

  • "Jesus, this is for You."

  • "Lord, help me do this well."

  • "I offer this for the conversion of sinners."

  • "May this bring You glory."

Whether you're washing dishes, answering emails, mowing the lawn, or driving to work, each task becomes an offering.

Practice the Presence of God

Throughout the day, remind yourself that Jesus is with you.

Take brief moments to say:

  • "Jesus, I trust in You."

  • "Sacred Heart of Jesus, I love You."

  • "Thank You, Lord."

  • "Praise be to God."

  • "Come, Holy Spirit."

These short prayers keep your heart united with Him.

Offer Your Crosses

Not every offering is joyful.

Sometimes the greatest gifts we can give Jesus are our difficulties.

When something goes wrong...
When someone hurts you...
When you're tired...
When you're waiting...

Simply pray:

"Jesus, I offer this to You."

United with Christ's Cross, even suffering becomes an act of love.

Love the Person in Front of You

One of the greatest ways to serve Jesus is by serving others.

Remember His words:

"Whatever you did for one of the least of these my brethren, you did for Me." (Matthew 25:40)

Smile.
Be patient.
Forgive quickly.
Listen attentively.
Encourage someone.
Offer kindness without expecting anything in return.

See Christ in every person you meet.

End the Day with Gratitude

Before going to bed, spend a few moments with Jesus.

Thank Him for the blessings of the day.

Ask forgiveness for where you fell short.

Entrust tomorrow into His hands.

A simple prayer:

"Jesus, thank You for today. Everything good came from You. Forgive my failures, accept my efforts, and help me love You even more tomorrow."

The Little Way of Holiness

St. Thérèse of Lisieux taught that holiness is often found not in extraordinary deeds, but in doing ordinary things with extraordinary love.

You don't have to do great things.

You simply have to do small things with great love.

That is how saints are made.

A Daily Prayer

Lord Jesus,

Everything I have is a gift from You.

Help me to do every task, no matter how small, with love and for Your greater glory.

Teach me to see You in every person, to trust You in every trial, and to thank You in every blessing.

May my work become prayer, my sacrifices become offerings, and my entire life become an act of love for You.

May every thought, every word, and every action draw me closer to Your Sacred Heart.

Amen.

An Invitation

Tomorrow morning, begin with one simple prayer:

"Jesus, everything I do today is for You."

Repeat it throughout the day.

Before every task.
Before every conversation.
Before every decision.

You may be surprised how ordinary moments become opportunities for holiness.

As St. Paul reminds us:

"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men." (Colossians 3:23)

May every moment of our day become a loving gift offered to Jesus.
