Women’s Prayer Group

We are forming a Women’s Prayer Group at St. Catherine’s to pray for one another’s intentions and for the needs of the parish. Meeting times are TBD. If you would like to be added to the email list, please contact the parish office by email.

Parish Help Needed
As we begin a new year, please consider helping the parish as:
– Ushers (greeting, seating, helping with the collection)
– Money counters (after Mass, as scheduled)
– Grounds help (seasonal outdoor work, keeping the property neat)
– First Saturday cleaning crew (light cleaning inside the church)

2nd Collections. January  4th will be for the priory, January  11th will be for the building fund. Building Pledges are due on January 4th

Epiphany Chalk and Holy Water
Around the feast of the Epiphany Jan 6th, the Church has the beautiful custom of blessing homes with holy water and blessed chalk, asking God’s protection over the family for the coming year. You can pick them up in the common area.

Sanctuary Candle Offerings. You may have the sanctuary candle lit for a loved one—living or deceased. A donation of $30 is requested.

Masses. Father has opening for Masses. Suggested donation of $20 per mass. Mass envelopes are in the bookstore.

Rosary (8:30am Sunday). Our Sunday rosary will be offered especially for our building project. Afterwards we will ask St Joseph’s intercession by praying the Prayer to St Joseph’s and the litany of St Joseph.

Devotion to the Most Holy Name of Jesus

The Church dedicates the month of January to the Most Holy Name of Jesus. His Name is not just a word or a label; it is holy, powerful, and worthy of the deepest reverence. Scripture tells us that “at the Name of Jesus every knee should bow” – in heaven, on earth, and under the earth. When we pronounce His Name with faith and love, we honor Our Lord Himself and call upon His help.

The Holy Name devotion is especially a devotion of reparation. So often, the Name of Jesus is spoken carelessly or even blasphemed. We can console His Heart by making small acts of love each day: bowing the head when we hear His Name, quietly saying a prayer of reparation when it is misused, and invoking His Name in our needs.

A simple practice for this month is to pray often:

“Blessed be the Most Holy Name of Jesus, now and forever.”

If you would like to learn more, books and devotional materials on the Holy Name of Jesus are available in our parish bookstore.

Let us ask Our Lady to teach us to love and honor the Name of her Son, and to make reparation for all the times it is offended.
